Ángel Vallarta

Ángel Vallarta Espinosa was born in Mexico City on October 10, 1962 in Xochimilco. He grew up in a working family dedicated to the production of flowers and plants in a traditional chinampa of Xochimilco in the midst of a Mexican environment, full of magic, color, tranquility and communion with nature.

As a first step in his vocation, he made the decision to pursue a career as a Professional Technician in Graphic Design. In 1985 he entered the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving «La Esmeralda» where he studied engraving, drawing, painting and sculpture. His work is developed in various aspects and he pluralizes his artistic proposal with the use of traditional and avant-garde techniques, in constant experimentation and artistic feeding.

Ángel Vallarta has exhibited in prestigious national and international forums since 1994. In Mexico his work has been exhibited in venues such as the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana, the Dolores Olmedo Patiño Museum, the Anahuacalli Museum and the José María Velasco Gallery, as well as in various galleries and cultural centers. The Dolores Olmedo Museum commissioned him in 2007 to make a copy of Diego Rivera’s disappeared mural «Nightmare of War, Dream of Peace», which is exhibited in said museum.

He collaborated with Jean Paul Chambas, in the Mural “Visiones de México” for the Mexico City Metro. He also made 25 reproductions of the watercolors that Diego Rivera made for the “Popol Vuh” Book, published by the Dolores Olmedo Museum and Bancomer.
